Founded on experience

Hamish Cowan created equiti after noticing that many Kiwi’s were looking to invest in property, but struggling to find property that met their investment goals. Having worked with Financial Advice Providers for most of his career, Hamish saw first-hand how great real estate options can support great financial advisers. Drawing on this experience, he created an independent real estate business allowing financial advisers to search for properties that meet their clients’ requirements, via an innovative, passworded protected adviser portal. The adviser portal creates a unique opportunity for financial advisers, their clients, real estate professionals and vendors to collaborate.

In addition, deep industry knowledge allows the equiti team to support buyers through the purchase journey, whilst also offering a service that fits seamlessly into the financial advice process in a fully compliant way.

We work in partnership with advisers to help Kiwi’s buy competitively priced, high quality, new build properties within their means, to help them grow their wealth over time. To do this, investors need a trusted financial adviser, the right property advice and the right properties!

Collaboration is in Hamish’s DNA. Hamish has created equiti with the ultimate goal of building better futures for all New Zealanders. He believes that is only through authentic collaboration that there can be equitable outcomes for everyone involved in growing wealth through property. That is the builders of property, purchasers and their financial advisers.

He’s drawn on his extensive 17 years of experience in both the financial services and new-build real estate industry to create equiti - an independent, impartial, online real estate platform, exclusively for financial advisers. He believes there is a real need for advisers to be empowered to facilitate real estate introductions in a fully complaint and disclosed way, where the ultimate winner is their client, as they are provided with a property solution that they know meets their financial needs. i.e. it’s what they can afford to buy and hold for the long-term. Win, win, win…

Investing with purpose

Most Kiwi’s know that they will not have enough savings to fund their lifestyle in retirement. More than two thirds are worried about their retirement and almost three quarters say they will have to work past 70 years old to fund their retirement…All a bit grim really!

Similarly, New Zealand has an undersupply of quality homes. We are not building enough new homes to cater for the current population; nor are we provisioning enough additional homes as the population continues to increase. We are talking an industry wide shortage across transitional and social housing as well as the private rental market.

Here at equiti we want to be part of the solution by enabling Kiwis to buy new build investment properties; both growing their wealth and adding to the country's housing supply. Helping them to build a better future for themselves and the country.

We believe in growing wealth through property. This is through a passive, buy and hold long-term strategy. That is; buy a well-priced, quality new build property; make sure you can afford to hold it for the long-term then, when you are able, do it again.
